I thought I would do better

blogging than I have done.  I thought I was going to be publishing all these great insights and experiences with my daughters and frankly I just haven’t had the time.  My hats off to all of you that can keep up with all of this.  I am still trying to figure out how to get pictures posted….as for the move we have been packed and out of our house with stuff in Big M on the other had is maintaining at all levels and is interested in all of it.  I must say that I find myself frustrated with the lack of retention  in the money department though.  I would think from my experience of money as a child that it would be exciting and interesting to get an allowance, save and spend some of it, but it seems like it is just a HUGE painful chore for all of us to deal with.  I would love some feedback and suggestions on it if you have any.

  1. Money, well I’m not sure where you are at in the city, but if you’re close to a bus stop or rail, use it instead of the car. Be sure to sign up for the reading programs at the libraries (free skate city, cici’s, elitch, lakeside, ice skating…) and you’ll have a full summer!

As for blogging pics, use picasa and when you click on the pic (when you make a web album with it, very easy to do) it will give you a link to paste into your post, then it shows up.

And grab a Colorado parent mag. at the store or library (free) and you’ll have tons to do too. The Cherry blossom fest is this weekend (19th and Larimer st.) And the Wizards chest is having a yo-yo competition Sat. 12-2.

  2. Money is very hard for us too. I hate the whole allowance thing, R has no concept of money (and often loses it, or just wastes it on something) and M is totally focused on having to spend the money the second he gets it… then coming close to falling apart when he can’t buy a $35. item with his $5. (or whatever).

I’m going to have to set up another allowance program though… M keeps insisting he wants his own money, and he’s right…

  3. Also, in terms of looking for cheap/free things to do… Liese ^^^^ is the queen of fun, free things to do. Check out her blog and you’ll see… she’s amazing!

  4. That’s because I was raised cheap and spent my (mispent) youth in summers of no supervision quests for a Swiss Family Robinson island. That’s probably why today we’re going to the secret creek to pretend we’re Nim and her scientist father; alone on an island looking for protozoa.

Coming up: Sunday (free) Aurora history museum has an actor coming portraying FDR, you can listen and ask him Q’s (like how come he didn’t get picked to be in Night at the museum?) Also their presidential campaign exhibit is still on. Next Sat. (19th) Rocky mt. PBS is having their free kids fest at their station. http://www.rmpbs.org/
